A large and ever-increasing number of pet dogs are reported to training clubs and behaviourists as being aggressive towards other dogs, which may cause ill-feeling towards neighbours, large quantities of monies spent in ecompencing others for vet bills etc. etc. Through re-training and rehabilitation through consistent practice, dogs can become much happier and friendlier around other dogs. Such aggression can be caused by your dog having previously been attacked by another dog, poor socialisation during puppyhood and the early stages or even your dog poorly misunderstanding the body language of other dogs. This is especially common in dogs associated with breeds whereby their eyes are covered in fur; they have thick, long fur, bouncy, excitable dogs or extremely large dogs. Re-training your dog into learning that other dogs are NOT a threat reduces such aggressive behaviours and makes training, walkies and other doggie based activities much more fun, without the worry that your dog may bite someone else's, and all the complications that come with dog aggressive dogs.
